The purpose of the program is for kids to have fun while learning and developing fundamental football skills, as well as, dedication and responsibility to the teams.

Jr. Cats Football is part of the Central Utah Football League.  The CUFL is made up of several communities that participate in a competitive/recreational program.  They work together to provide a great program for young men this age to get a realistic football season experience.
This program is for youth entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall. This is full-contact tackle football.

This program is open to all youth, and there are no try-outs. Teams fill up quickly, so sign up early in the registration period to ensure a spot in the program. Play will begin in mid-August and continue until mid-October. Games will be played on Wednesday and Saturdays.

Equipment Night
We will have a equipment give away night. Coaches will contact you when a date and time is scheduled. Please come as it makes an easier process when everyone shows up on the scheduled night.
Helmets, shoulder pads, pants, pants pads and practice jerseys must be returned after the season.  Please launder the pants and practice jersey and return them clean.  Equipment return will be the Monday following the final games of the tournament.  Come as a team please.

Football is a team sport.  Each position on the team is very important.  The linemen block, the center snaps the ball, kickers kick, quarterbacks throw, running backs run and receivers catch, etc.  There are many things that have to happen to make each play as successful as it can be.  Please encourage and support your child in whatever position(s) he may have.  Each player is so important to the game.
Football requires a lot of practice and dedication.  Coaches will set practice time with the kids.  It is important for each participant to be at all practices.  Please support the coaches in what they do.  If there is a time your child can’t be there, let the coach know.  They will work with you, but try everything you can before having your child miss a practice.  If your child misses practices, they may not get much playing time.  This is not a punishment; it is a matter of safety, fairness and teamwork.
Football is a contact sport.  There are risks of injury.  By being at practice participants will get stronger by conditioning, by learning and running the plays and by being taught the rules and procedures of the game.  Each participant is responsible for their own medical insurance.  Each participant is responsible for their hydration.  Bring a water bottle or similar each day.
In compliance with House Bill 204—“Protection of Athletes with Head Injuries Act”, Richfield City has implemented a policy regarding concussions, etc.  If your child sustains a concussion, a release from a Doctor will be required before further participation is allowed.
The teams will travel to different cities to play.  It is the responsibility of parents to provide a way for their child to get to and from the games.
Sportsmanship is essential to the enjoyment of any game.  Please be positive and supportive of the game, the players, coaches and officials.
